PaaS – Platform as a Service is a concept where all IT-infrastructure has been encapsulated. All that is needed to build and use PaaS applications is a web browser. Servers, databases, integration, security etc. is provided for in the platform.
Save time and money with no programming
PaaS allows business customers to set up fully functional applications within a few weeks or sometimes within a few days. Some typical scenarios are:
- a new business need for IT support where the timeline to get the a ready application in production is critical
- improve and turn an existing MS Excel, MS Access or other entry level IT solution in to a ruggedized real business application for distributed use
Business owners can easily with little or no assistance from the IT department create an application that corresponds to the business processes and supersedes any Excel/Access application. A prototype application can often be created and made available to selected users within hours. The application may easily and continuously be changed and tuned as the business processes evolves and develops.
Roll-out in seconds
PaaS applications are ready to run the second they are deemed ready - which is normally within days – not months. No need for deployment or any other disturbances - just activate your new application for use!
Never lose momentum because of rigid IT
Businesses do often have to rely heavily on IT for the operation. How often has the realisation of business opportunities been delayed because of the lead-time involved in traditional IT development? IS Tools has experienced and assisted customers in having ideas turned into productive systems within weeks where the business cases have clearly indicated savings of millions $ per year – as soon as the IT system is operational.
In one case a customer of ours had a real challenge. Some key challenges were to:
- achieve extremely short-time-to productive system
- open up global use to company-external parties
- efficiently get the produced data to their business system
This company was already running other IS Tools based applications and was familiar with the capacity and features of our platform. IS Tools professional services department together with our customer produced and launched the operational system* in a fraction of the time compared to what was estimated for a traditionally based solution.

Subscription or perpetual licenses
As a Service indicates that the applications do not need upfront capital investment. Instead users pay subscription fees based on the level of usage. IS Tools offers the subscription model, but we also offer our customers to purchase perpetual licenses.
Run on your servers or on ours
As a Service also often implies that the applications run on externally hosted servers. PaaS is by default very suitable for this low cost, easy entry level method of running applications.
IS Tools gives you freedom of choice and offers external hosting as well as deployment of the capabilities and benefits of our PaaS-engine behind company firewalls at customer premises. The latter is often required by large corporations due to policies and other reasons. Several companies run “private clouds” (global wide area networks) with secured and guaranteed quality of service levels and policies call for managing critical data within their established firewalls. Furthermore, integration and communication with other business applications might be required where an open internet connection does not fulfil the requirements. For on premises installations on company hosted servers, IS Tools offers support and maintenance service agreements.
