IS Tools donates more money to Médecins Sans Frontières team in Haiti
To participate in the aid for people affected by the tragedy in Haiti, IS Tools have sent more money to Médecins Sans Frontières.
Médecins Sans Frontières is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or man-made disasters.
MSF teams in Port-au-Prince is stepping up effort to rebuild and expand the medical capacity that existed before the earthquake. 135 international staff have joined the staff was in place when the disaster occurred.
To date, approximately 3,000 injuries treated and 400 surgical operations carried out, but the needs are still huge and MSF teams are working with extremely rudimentary tools and utilities.
- State is still very difficult and injuries may often have to wait too long before they receive care. Hospitals are overcrowded and even the capacity to carry out surgical operations has increased slightly, it is far from sufficient to meet the needs of the thousands of patients who need surgery to survive. Right now we must focus on people with life-threatening injury, where surgery can save lives, "said Johan von Schreeb, medical coordinator in place in Haiti.
Currently, MSF is working on more than ten locations in Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas.
